Shipping an Oversized Item?

  • Oversized items are large products that must ship through a freight carrier based on meeting one or more of the following criteria:
  • Weigh 151 lbs. or more
  • when packaged Length measures 108 in. or more
  • Girth measures 165 in. or more
UPS and Oversized Packages With UPS there are two types of oversized packages (length is always the longest side of a package or object): A package is considered “Oversize 1” (OS1) when all of the following conditions apply: The package's combined length and girth exceeds 84 inches. The package's combined length and girth is equal to or less than 108 inches. The package's actual weight is less than 30 pounds. For each OS1 package, the billable weight is 30 pounds. A package is considered “Oversize 2” (OS2) when all of the following conditions apply: The package's combined length and girth exceeds 108 inches. The package's actual weight is less than 70 pounds. For each OS2 package, the billable weight is 70 pounds. The maximum length per package is 108 inches or 270 centimeters. The maximum allowed size per package is 130 inches or 330 centimeters in length and girth combined. For updated information on the definition of oversized packages. FedEx and Oversized Packages FedEx defines oversized packages as follows (current as of August 2005). A package weighing less than 30 lbs. and measuring more than 84 inches and equal to or less than 108 inches in combined length and girth will be classified by FedEx Ground as an Oversize 1 (OS1) package. The transportation charges for an Oversize 1 (OS1) package will be the same as a 30-lb. package being transported under the same circumstances. A package weighing less than 50 lbs. and measuring more than 108 inches in combined length and girth will be classified by FedEx Ground as an Oversize 2 (OS2) package. The transportation charges for an Oversize 2 (OS2) package will be the same as a 50-lb. package being transported under the same circumstances. A package weighing 70 lbs. or less and measuring more than 130 inches in combined length and girth will be classified by FedEx Ground as an Oversize 3 (OS3) package. The transportation charges for an Oversize 3 (OS3) package will be the same as a 90 lb. FedEx® Ground package being transported under the same circumstances, plus FedEx Home Delivery accessorial charges. An oversize charge of $45 per package will apply to any package measuring greater than 130” in length and girth.
If an item ships on a wooden pallet, regardless of weight (but generally in the 100-150 lb. range), it is considered an Oversized Item
You can confirm if an item is considered oversized by reviewing the information in the Shipping & Returns tab on the product page. An oversized item will indicate that it leaves our warehouse in 1-10 business days and that it has 1-4 week delivery after the item ships.
Shipping and Delivery Information
  • Most of our oversized items qualify for our Free Shipping offer on U.S. orders over $100 shipping to the lower 48 states, unless otherwise specified on the product page. * Our Free shipping over $100 offer is excluded on Alaska and Hawaii, APO/FPO/DPO and International orders.
  • Oversized items leave our warehouse within 1-10 business days
  • Deliveries of oversized items take 1-4 weeks from the time it leaves our warehouse
  • Whenever we are able to accommodate a delivery of oversized items to a remote or isolated area not commonly serviced by freight carriers, delivery may take an additional 1-2 weeks and additional delivery fees may apply
  • All oversized items ship with Standard Threshold Delivery Service* unless “White Glove Delivery” is indicated in the Shipping & Returns tab of the product page *The Standard Threshold Delivery Service provides delivery of your shipment to the nearest ground level entrance, i.e.: your front porch, a lobby or a garage entrance.
